REFLECTIONS AND ACCIDENTS is a collection of ten short stories by award-winning author, Inge Moore. Story themes include self-discovery, coming-of-age, humor, drama, and dark romance. 5. EINSTEIN - A young woman seeks to discover intimacy and love, but fears she may uncover something more sinister. Published in Prairie Fire.
6. OUR COUNTRY - A flash fiction piece about a future some predict may yet come to pass.
7. CONFESSIONS - TEN FRAGMENTS - Ten flash fiction pieces that deal with various emotional highlights in a woman's life Greed, Hate, Love, Happiness, Shame, Impotence, Pride, Longing, Fear, and Compulsion. Excerpts published in Malahat Review, Antigonish Review, Nexus, Edges, and Whispers & Shouts.
8. THE WAY GOD MADE YOU - A light comedy about what happens when a young woman tells her old-fashioned mother she wants her help in obtaining breast implants.
9. NIAGARA FALLS - A young girl helps an elderly widow prepare for a Christmas Eve visit from her estranged son. Published in SansCrit.
10. ONLY ONE CAT IN THE HOUSE - Elly was only sixteen when she met the love of her life, Ted. They married young. She has been his devoted wife ever since even though he treats her with cruelty and disdain. But things are changing and it's not long before Ted does something he'll regret. Published in Quarry, A Quarterly Magazine of Contemporary Writing.

"Reflections and Accidents" is a collection of ten powerful stories with unexpected twists. The author refutes the old saw of "show, don't tell," but in a very skillful way. She uses narrative more than chit-chat which makes her stories deeper and more meaningful. She plumbs the depths of women's feelings who aren't treated very well, but eventually find redemption in their own strength and resources. One, "The Way God Made You," is quite humorous. The last, long story, "Only One Cat in the House," will knock your socks off. That many of these stories have been published in literary magazines and won awards attests to Moore's talent. These stories were okay. I didn't find most of them that entertaining, but maybe that's because they may not be my kind of story. I liked the last one the best though, as I am a cat lover.
A joy to read--Inge Moore never fails to entertain. These stories stayed with me long after I finished reading them.
